In the City

In a few days I'm going to New York City and meeting up with my good friend Amber. =D  I'm so excited!  I've always wanted to go there and who knows when another chance will come along?  She is visiting some family upstate and then she's going to Manhattan where I will meet her for 4 days of bonding. ^_^  I have a long list of places to eat that we probably won't be able to get to half of and we have tickets to go see Wicked on Broadway!  I'm excited, but scared. o.o
When Amber invited me I almost mechanically said that I couldn't do it but then I stopped and thought, "Why not?"  We will be sharing the expenses so it won't add up to very much, I don't have a job or anywhere I have to be, and I've been wanting to try boarding the cats somewhere nice to practice for when I (or John and I) visit Utah.  I've gotten everything pretty planned out.  I put my mail on hold, I found a nice place for the cats so they'll have their own room with a window, I bought a couple of pretty dresses (yay!), I have a ride to the airport, plane ticket, carryon bag of the right size, got the cats their shots today so they won't pick anything up or spread any germs at the place they'll be staying (though Zoe had a reaction and, after much vomiting and sickness in the short span of an hour, I took her back to the vet for a shot to stop the reaction and then I cuddled her while she had a long sleep at home)...  I'm going to ask my neighbors to keep an eye out for any packages being left on my doorstep and if they'd kindly shelter them until I return.  But, I'm still really nervous.  But there's excitement, too. :)  I feel nervous about new things and change until they happen.  Just part of anxiety, I guess.  I think it'll be a fun trip and one I'll always remember.  =)

I've been flying kind of a lot lately, and I find to reduce travel anxiety it helps if I just think of it as riding a bus, except even more boring. Humans have a talent for being bored. :)

Still, I wish I were going to NY. :( If you make the trip to DC within the next few months let me know.

How fun for you! Way to step out of the comfort zone too- I know I'd be a little frightened myself, but you'll have a blast I'm sure!
